The Three Fairies of Light.

Sunny Milk.

Luna Child.

Star Sapphire.

These three mischievous fairies do a lot in their everyday lives...
...but cleaning isn't one of these things.

"Clean!?" Sunny Milk shouted.

"Yes, this place is a mess," Star Sapphire said.

"But...cleaning is just work..," Luna Child complained.

"We're cleaning today," Star demanded. "I can barely walk around without stepping on something."

"But I don't want to clean..," Sunny complained.

Star handed Sunny and Luna a broom and gave each of them a list of chores.

"What!? We have to do all of this!?" Sunny said.

"It's not that much..I have to do a lot more," Star said.

Luna looked at her list and sighed. "Do we really have to do this?" She asked.

"Yes. Now, let's start cleaning!" Star said.

Luna stared at her list for a bit. She sighed and then started picking up stuff off of the floor.

Sunny stared at her list and got a headache. She wondered how she was supposed to do even one of the items on the list. Sunny took another look at the list again. The first thing on the list was sweeping. Sunny grabbed a broom and dragged it across the floor.

"What are you doing?" Star asked.

"Cleaning," Sunny replied.

Star took the broom from Sunny and showed her the proper way to clean. She gave the broom back to Sunny and continued her own chores.

"Ugh..I hate this..," Sunny said.

"It's not that bad, I'm already a quarter done," Luna said.

"What!? Star must have given you a better list!" Sunny said. "Let me see yours!"

Luna handed Sunny her list. Sunny held the lists together and compared them.

Luna Child
Pick up stuff off floor
Clean windows
Mop
Wash clothes

Sunny Milk
Sweep
Clean dishes
Clean room

"Hey..," Luna said, "you have less work than me. Cleaning your room isn't even a chore..."

"What? How did you clean so fast?" Sunny asked.

"I dunno, I just kept cleaning and then I was done."

Sunny Milk sighed and then resumed her sweeping. "I just have to keep sweeping and this will end soon, right?" she thought to herself.

After what seemed like an eternity to Sunny, she had finally gathered most of the dirt on the floor into a small pile.

"Good job Sunny!" Star walked up to Sunny and took the broom from her. "I can take it from here, you can start cleaning the dishes."

"Ah, alright..," Sunny replied. Sunny walked over to the kitchen and was met with towers of bowls and cups. "How am I supposed to clean all of this..."

Luna walked by carrying a basket full of clothes. "Hey Sunny, are you almost done?"

"I just finished sweeping."

"Huh, barely? I'm just about to finish washing these clothes."

"How do you work so fast?!"

"I'm not. I'm just focusing on getting this done instead of complaining about it."

"Focusing on getting this done, huh?" Sunny said to herself.

"Yup. Well, I'm going to go put this away now." Luna walked off and left Sunny with her piles of dishes.

"Alright...Just focus on getting things done..." Sunny washed her first dish and stared at the unchanged tower. She then just rinsed all of the dishes and put them away wherever they fit. The towers slowly disappeared and the cabinets became stuffed with dishware.

"Now all I have to do is clean my part of the room!" Sunny shouted. She ran to the bedroom and gathered all of her loose belongings. "This..this...and...ah!" Sunny found a small plastic disc with a sun painted on it. She pushed a button on the side and it opened up, revealing a tiny mirror. "That's right, Marisa wants to write about us! I'll tell her about today later."

Sunny carefully placed the mirror on her desk and resumed gathering scattered objects. She held a pile in her arms and threw it all in the closet.

"Done!" Sunny cheered, She ran back out to the living room and saw Star and Luna.

"Ah, Sunny, did you finish too?" Star asked.

"Yes!"

"Good timing. Let's see what you've done then. I already checked Luna."

"See what I've done?"

"Yes, to make sure you cleaned properly."

"Cleaned properly?"

Star opened the kitchen cabinets and was hit by a wave of bowls.

"Sunny...."

"I-I...Are you okay?" Sunny asked.

Star walked over to Sunny and put her hands on her hips, giving Sunny a menacing glare.

"I..did the best I could."

Star grabbed a bowl off of her head and gave it to Sunny. "No you didn't."

"Sorry..."

"As punishment..," Star said, "me and Luna will just have to start without you."

"Start what?" Luna asked.

"Well, after we have all finished cleaning we were going to eat this," Star pulled out a cake and set it on the table.

"A cake!" Luna cheered.

"What!?" Sunny yelled. "When did you even get that?"

"That doesn't matter. Go put the dishes away properly and we'll save you a piece."

"Fine..," Sunny sighed. Sunny started gathering the bowls from the floor and putting them neatly in the cabinets, looking back every now and then to see Star and Luna drinking coffee and eating cake. After some time of this torture, all of the dishes were placed neatly in the cabinets.

"I'm finally done...Can I have cake now?" Sunny asked.

"Let's see," Star said.

Star walked over to the kitchen and inspected the cabinets. "Looks good to me!"

"So I can have cake and coffee now, right?" Sunny asked.

"Yes! Ah, but we just ran out of coffee. I think I have more in our closet." Star said.

"Ah, alright then," Sunny said. Sunny was about to grab a slice of cake, but then she remembered that she had stuffed the closet with stuff. "Ah! Wait! Let me get the coffee Star!"

"Hm? Why? I'm already almost there."

"You've worked hard enough, haven't you? I can get the coffee."

Star furrowed her brow and kept walking to the bedroom. A few seconds passed and a loud crashing noise was heard. Star walked out of the bedroom covered in clothes and various trinkets. She threw all of the stuff off and stormed over to Sunny and Luna. Luna sank in her seat and Sunny held onto Luna.

"Y-You know..," Luna quivered, "you look really scary when you're mad, S-Star..."

"Y-Yeah...please don't hurt us..," Sunny said.

"Sunny...All you had to do was organize your part of the room."

"I'm sorry..."

"And you!" Star poked Luna in the stomach.

"Ow..my tummy..."

"I trusted you to put away the clothes properly!"

"R-Right..."

Star pointed at the pile of clothes and trinkets on the floor. "Go clean, PROPERLY this time!"

"Yes miss..," Sunny and Luna said.

Sunny and Luna ran off and cleaned, properly, as fast as they possibly could. As soon as they had finished, they came back to Star sitting at the table eating the last slice of cake.

"I never got any cake...," Sunny said.

"Whose fault is that?" Star asked.

"Mine..," Sunny replied.

"We're going to clean like this more often from now on," Star said.

"W-What!?!" Sunny and Luna shouted.

"Would you rather clean a little every now and then or clean a lot one day?" Star asked.

"Um..neither of those sound very good..," Luna said.

"I'm doing most of the cleaning anyways, I just need a little help, alright?" Star said.

"Alright fine, but we better get some kind of reward!" Sunny demanded.

"Sure, we can have more cake and coffee!" Star replied.

"Sounds good to me!" Luna said.

"Oh!" Sunny shouted.

"Hm, what is it Sunny?" Luna asked.

"I remembered something while cleaning, but, I don't remember what it was..."

"Retrace your steps, maybe?" Luna suggested.

"Ah, maybe that would work," Sunny replied.

Sunny went to the bedroom and looked around her desk. She found an opened compact, and memories of treasure hunting with Marisa filled her head. She also began to remember that Marisa wanted to write stories about them. Sunny went back to the other two fairies and showed them the compact.

"Remember this, guys? Marisa wants to write a book about us," Sunny said.

"Ah! Miss Marisa did want to do that, didn't she?" Star remembered.

"We should go visit her then," Luna suggested.

"Yeah, let's go visit Marisa!" Sunny declared.

The three fairies ran out of their home and flew towards the Forest of Magic. There, they visited Marisa and told her all about their day. Marisa was a bit confused about having to write about them doing chores, but she figured it was rare for a fairy to do any kind of work. Marisa was also glad that they remembered to tell her about their life, so she happily wrote about their day.

Message fro the Author:
It was a little surprising for the fairies to come today, I thougt that they have already forgotten about our book. They started talking about how they were doing chores today, is something like that really worth writing about? I'm not sure when I'll hear from those fairies again, so I wrote about it anyways. I hope they come to me with something more exciting next timeand not another chore day...

Message from the Publisher:
About time, huh? I wrote this near the end of May or something, and I forgot a lot about what I was doing, so theres bound to be some mistakes in here somewhere. For example, I'm sure I probably butchered the personalities of the three fairies, I'll work on that. But I'm glad I was finally able to get this out there, and I'm going to try my best to pick up the pace and start releasing more of these. In the meantime, do tell me if any of you have any suggestions or critiques, good or bad. I hope at least some of you have enjoyed reading this issue of Mischievous Light, look forward to the next one!
